PRICING

I charge $25.00 per hour plus expenses. I do not have a minimum or set number of hours......just a straight $25/hr.

When I say "expenses" I do not mean paying for my lunch at McDonald's when I go to the cemetery to look for your ancestor's headstone. Rather, you should be aware that everyone and their mother is charging exorbitant fees for anything related to genealogy research. Need a copy of a birth or death certificate? They ain't free.

The good news is that I will ask your permission FIRST before incurring any expenses.

Honestly, if I didn't have to put food on the table, I would offer my services for free because I love family history research so much. I see many other genealogists charging $50 or even up to $100 per hour. In good conscious, I could never charge such high fees because I understand that genealogical research NEVER ENDS and when starting from scratch, not much can be accomplished with a "4 hour Package" deal. And I also truly believe that I can do the same, if not more, research in one hour than these higher priced researchers.

Do you want to give my services as a gift to someone? No problem! If you want to pre-pay for a specific number of hours, you can certainly do that.

I accept cash, checks, money orders, credit cards and Paypal.

Again, you should read my philosophy regarding family history, but the bottom line is that no one really cares about "John begot Michael who begot David who begot Jason who begot.....begot.....begot......begot". I believe that what makes family history interesting is a BOOK. Something physical that you can put on your coffee table so that people can flip though it and see pictures and read stories and really learn where you came from.....and why.

Below is a picture of a family history book that I recently published. There are so many ways that you can make one of these your own. You can personalize your own book with:

  • A custom front and back cover and spine; Choose your own title, the graphics you want, the fonts you want, the colors you want.

  • Add a "Table of Contents", a "Forward" written by the family matriarch, and an "Introduction" explaining what is in the book and how to read it.

  • Add pedigree charts and ancestor and descendant reports, family group sheets, an index of everyone in the book along with their birth/marriage/death dates and spouse's name, a kinship report listing everyone in the book along with their exact relationship to you.

  • And finally, pictures and documents! Pictures of people, old houses, pets and as many as you want! And documents like birth/marriage/death certificates, census abstracts, military records like draft cards, church records, family letters and anything else you want people to see and read.

  • And why? Because no one will read your tree online.
